James Franco News: Actor Gets Cast As Lead In Kennedy Assassination Drama Titled '11/22/63'
It would seem that James Franco will be making his return to television with his casting in J.J. Abrams and Stephen King's Kennedy Assassination drama.
The mini series titled, '11/22/63' will be featured on Hulu and will make this the largest TV commitment the actor has ever held since 'General Hospital' or his breakout series, 'Freaks and Geeks'.
"Franco, repped by CAA, Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern, got his first break on the cult dramedy Freaks and Geeks and earned his first awards recognition with his starring role in the TV biopic James Dean. He was nominated for an Oscar for 127 Hours and most recently starred in the controversial feature comedy The Interview, which has been linked to the Sony hack," writes Deadline.
Franco has been cast as the lead, an English teacher that has traveled through time.
"Based on King's best-seller, 11/22/63 is described as a thriller in which high school English teacher Jake Epping travels back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. But his mission is threatened by Lee Harvey Oswald, his falling in love and the past itself ... which doesn't want to be changed," writes The Hollywood Reporter.
The script is being penned by Bridget Carpenter, who will also produce the series alongside Stephen King and Bad Robots Bryan Burk.
A premiere date for the series has not yet been announced.
