James Bond 24 Movie Latest Rumors: Denzel Washington Wants to Be Daniel Craig's Successor in Future Film [VIDEOS]
In a recent interview, film icon Denzel Washington revealed that he wants to be the next James Bond in the near future.
"The next James Bond?" said Washington to a fan during a Reddit discussion a few days ago, "Yes I would! Who's doing James Bond now - Daniel Craig!"
If that happens, the 59-year-old Mount Vernon, New York native would become the first ever African-American James Bond in history.
"Everybody should tweet Denzel is James Bond!," said Washington, "We start the Denzel is Bond campaign today!"
The legendary 'Training Day' and 'Man on Fire' actor also realized that along with never playing as the iconic Secret Agent 007, he has never hosted Saturday Night Live (which begins its 40th season on September 27).
"That's a good question," said Washington to a fan via Reddit, "I need to do that! Call NBC and tell them Denzel needs to host!"
In another interview, Washington talked about the most racist experience he faced when his wife Pauletta Learson Washington performed in a play in Boston approximately 30 years ago.
'Hey n-, n-, n-, n-, hey boy.' I was like, 'Damn.' That was the taste I had about Boston," said Washington.
In addition, Washington also recalled the first time he heard the controversial 'N' word when he was only nine years old before he asked his mother why he was called the aforementioned word by a group of kids in Florida many decades ago.
"And she said, 'Oh, that's just somebody worried about you taking their place.' It was like crabs in the bottom of the barrel. And in Southwest Boston, they were all right there," said Washington in reference to poor housing areas that were next each other, "They are at the bottom. So it was like, 'We're better than you.' Yeah, so I came in (to Boston) with all those kinds of memories."
Washington's latest film 'The Equalizer' arrives in US movie theaters on September 26.
