James Bond 24 Movie Cast News, Rumors?: Daniel Craig Replaced by Elba Iris for Lead Role in 'Spectre'?
Not long ago rumors were afloat about the next man to take the place of Agent 007. At the time reports said the man for the job was not Daniel Craig, but Idris Elba, a British actor and singer. If Elba got the role, he would be the first black James Bond.
James Bond critics and supporters were not making the decision easy for 'Spectre' Director Sam Mendes. Amy Pascal, the co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment was adamantly in favor of Elba for the 007 role. On January 4, Pascal reportedly told Elizabeth Cantillon of Columbia pictures, "Idris should be the next Bond."
For now, however, Daniel Craig will continue to be 007 through the next two James Bond movies. Currently, Mendes is producing the 24th installment of the Bond films, 'Spectre', and Craig's contract stipulates that he must take the leading role for this film.
Other stars for 'Spectre' include Monica Bellucci, the oldest Bond girl in the 007 movies. This former Italian model played a role when she was 39-years-old in the film 'Goldfinger'. In the upcoming film, Monica is expected to play Lucia Sciarra, although it is not yet revealed what her role will entail.
The actors that may be re-joining the cast include Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, and Naomie Harris. New arriver Lea Seydoux will play Madeleine Swan as the movie's femme fatale.
