Jake Lloyd News: Former 'Star Wars' Actor Arrested After Police Chase
Jake Lloyd, who is best known for his childhood role as a young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode 1- The Phantom Menace in 1999, was recently arrested on a number of charges.
The charges against him include driving at high speed, failing to stop for cops and resisting arrest.
The incident took place in Charleston, South Carolina, where Lloyd currently lives. Police tried to get the actor to pull over, but his resulted in a chase.
Several miles down the road, Lloyd lost control of his vehicle and drove off of the road and into several trees, according to a report from TMZ.
Deputies say that Lloyd was driving recklessly, passing cars on double yellow lines at an incredibly high speed before ending with a crash.
The actor is currently in police custody, and has also been charged with driving without a license.
Lloyd stepped out of the spotlight after his role in Star Wars, but he still was cast in Jingle All the Way and Madison.
He also appeared in recurring roles on television in shows such as ER and The Pretender.
In March 2012, Lloyd stated that starring in Star Wars was a terrible experience and caused him to want to quit acting.
"Other children were really mean to me," recalled the actor in a statement to Black Book magazine. "They would make the sound of the light saber every time they saw me. It was totally mad, My entire school life was really a living hell -- and I had to do up to 60 interviews a day."
Perhaps some onlookers have sympathy for Lloyd's situation.
