'Iron Man 4' Movie News, Cast, Rumors: Robert Downey Jr. Confirms Solo Iron Man Is Not In The Cards

Talks have been going around that another standalone Iron Man movie will hit theaters in the future despite it not being included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie lineup slated for the years to come and despite actor Robert Downey, Jr. himself confirming that the fourth solo Iron Man movie is not in the cards.

Debates have been going on for quite some time now, until recently, the Iron Man himself confirmed that there will not be another Tony Stark movie. In his interviews, the 51-year-old actor said many times that he will not appear in an "Iron Man" standalone film. This has led fans to speculate that another actor might take the role of Tony Stark.

Despite the actor's statement, some reports still suggest the possibility for another Iron Man movie to be released since Marvel has plans for three untitled movies for 2020.

Some fans believe that if "Iron Man 4" movie is indeed happening in 2020, actor Downey Jr. will be 55 years old by then and may no longer be interested to play the role.

In a statement, however, "Captain America: Civil War" co-director Joe Russo said it would be hard to find a replacement for someone as remarkably talented as Downey, Jr., adding that the Tony Stark movie was really made for him.

"It's almost impossible to replace Robert, he's the biggest movie star in the world. One close up from Robert is worth another actor's entire performance, he's incredibly gifted and insanely talented," he said.
