iPhone SE Specs, Release Date, Price: Anticipated Launch Gets Closer, Device To Run On Faster A9, M9 Chips
The news reports and rumors surrounding the 4-inch Apple SE are going on overdrive with the tech giant expected to make the announcement on its latest device as soon as a couple weeks time.
The new name had a lot of iterations before settling on iPhone SE. Before, it was called Apple 6C as far back as 2014, then it was called Apple 5se.
The company will also discontinue production for the Apple 5s, which means that the cost of the new mobile phone would probably be closer to the 5s price point.
Then case makers released what looked like the housing for the new iPhone SE which triggered more rumors and news articles regarding its design.
Mac Rumors noted that the drawing "include a clear curve on both the front display panel and the back panel, lining up with the display rumors, but the curved display results in a body design that would prevent the device from sharing cases with the iPhone 5s as rumored."
As to the features, previous rumors and news reports point to the iPhone SE running on the faster A9 and M9 chips, instead of the A8 and M8. With the M9 chip processor, it's likely that there's going to be a Siri function.
The lock button also appears to be relocated from the top to the right-hand side, according to 9 to 5 Mac.
While Apple has not released a statement to confirm the release date for iPhone SE, latest news reports and rumors suggested that the new addition to the lineup will be announced probably in late March or early April.
