iPhone 8 Specs News: Patent Suggests All-Glass Looking?
With a dearth of news for the Apple iPhone 8, some websites have dug up the old patents from Apple to give a sense of what the new device will look like.
And if the speculations are correct, people may find an all-glass iPhone 8.
The approved patent showed what looked like curved glass which, according to Seeking Alpha, would be a nightmare in terms of engineering standpoint. But that's not all that should be considered.
Indeed, Apple would have to seriously consider the potential repercussions of making the iPhone 8 with all-glass or curved glass material, and still retain its market dominance.
Business Insider, meanwhile, doubts whether Apple will go the all-glass route as the news article called it as a "recipe for disaster." It said that there are a lot of Americans who complain about cracking their phone screens, so encasing most of the iPhone 8 in glass casing would surely be a bad idea from that standpoint.
That perception still holds true even if Apple will assure that it will only utilize glass material that would not break (or what it termed as "chemically strength glass"). But consumers still could not forget the slim iPhone 6 reportedly bend when they accidentally sit on them.
If the news is correct about the iPhone 8 being all-glass, then Apple has the right to be cautious. Whether or not it's very confident about its chemically treated material, people might not be as receptive about having a phone that they will have to carry around like expensive china.
