iPhone 7 News, Release Date, Specs, Leaks: Any Truth About Thinner Device and Headphone Jack?

Apple has a lot of fanbase and the anticipation for the iPhone 7 has reached fever pitch. For now, however, rumors have hounded the new device particularly about the thickness, as well as the headphone jack, or the lack thereof.

The latest leak came from Japanese website Macotakara, and shared by 9to5Mac, which alleged that the iPhone 7 Pro will be the same size of the iPhone 6s, but Apple seems to have dropped the headphone jack idea.

The rumors of Apple ditching the headphone jack is not new, since analysts have theorized that this is one way to enable the tech giant to produce a thinner iPhone 7. But the leaked report contradicted the previous reports.

"More specifically, the claimed iPhone 7 'Pro' will come in at 7.3mm thick, which is the exact same as the iPhone 6s Plus and thicker than the iPhone 6 Plus, which was 7.1mm thick," the website said. What's more is that the new phone will retain the iSight camera at the back.

There's no logical reason for the dual iSight camera except for easy switching to two focal lengths, or it has something to do with the Live Photos feature of the iPhone 6s, only this time it's ramped up several notches.

As to the release date, there seems to change to the earlier rumors about the iPhone 7 being released either during the Worldwide Developer's Conference in June or in September this year.

Based on various rumors and leaks, there seems to be no significant changes featured by iPhone 7 except perhaps for upgraded hardware and software. For now, there's no word yet on the rumored spec about the device being waterproof, just like what Motorola, Samsung and Sony have already done, said the report.
