iPhone 6s Release Date Rumors: German Carriers Tip Launch Date as Sept. 18
The upcoming Apple iPhone, dubbed as the iPhone 6s, may be available to consumers in mid-September. German blog MacErkopf has indicated that two of the three major German mobile carriers expect that the in-store sales on the highly anticipated iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will begin from Sept. 18.
Quoting Buzzfeed, IB Times states that Apple is likely to unveil the new iPhone at a media event on Sept. 9. Despite the fact that the publication mentions Sept. 9 as the actual event date, Apple may possibly host the event on Sept. 8. This is presumed on the basis of the fact that Apple has launched several of its previous iPhones on a Tuesday.
In fact, the in-store date stated by German carriers would put the iPhone 6s in line with previous launches, wherein the Cupertino-based tech titan started taking preorders on the Friday of its media event. In-store sales followed a week later.
Apart from the purported new iPhones, it is also speculated that Apple will unveil new iPads as well as a revamped Apple TV set-top box. According to Bloomberg, the company is unlikely to launch its much anticipated streaming television subscription service, which may possibly be delayed to 2016 owing to a freeze in negotiations between content providers, pay-TV companies and Apple.
Apple's larger 12.9-inch tablet - the purported iPad Pro has been described as the "wildcard" of the event. However, Buzzfeed reports that though the iPad Pro may be a part of Apple's September event, it is possible that the launch of the device could be pushed back to another event at a later date. Previous reports said that the tablet would be launched in March 2015. However, the launch was delayed owing to display manufacturing problems.
Speculations are rife that the iPhone 6s will come with a number of new features such as an A9 chip, a pressure-sensitive Force Touch display, 2GB of RAM, unbreakable rear case and much more. It is also expected that Apple will launch its next mobile operating system - iOS 9 - alongside the smartphone. The new OS is expected to bring new features like a power-saving mode, News app, transit mapping, and Apple Pay upgrades in addition to a split-screen mode for the iPad.
