iPhone 6C Release Date News: Apple Likely to Roll Out New Device in Q2 2016
Earlier this year, rumors flooding the Internet suggested that Apple Inc. would be launching three new iPhone handsets, including the iPhone 6C, iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus, this year. However, latest rumors claim that Apple has dropped its plan to release the iPhone 6C this year. Instead, the new handset will come sometime in the second quarter of 2016.
According to a report in IB Times, the alleged iPhone 6C is a 4-inch handset that is expected to succeed the iPhone 5C, which was released in 2014. However, there is no information regarding the precise reason behind the iPhone 6C's delayed launch in Q2 2016. DigiTimes quotes anonymous sources saying that the iPhone 6C will be powered by FinFET chipset.
DigiTimes further claimed that Apple is currently working with Samsung and TSMC to develop chipsets with 14nm and 16nm process technologies. Earlier rumors hinted that the iPhone 6C may feature a 20nmm chipset. Nevertheless, using a FinFET processor will enable the manufacturers to develop a low-power-consuming iPhone 6C handset together with impressive specifications.
On the other hand, there are reports that the upcoming iPhone 6S as well as the iPhone 6S Plus will be powered by the Apple A9 chipset built with 14nm or 16nm FinFET technology. In fact, mass production of the new chipsets has already started.
MacRumors claims that the purported iPhone 6C will be similar to the older iPhone 5C in size, but under the hood, it come with the specs that are found in the iPhone 6, which was released in 2014. In addition, the upcoming device is also expected to come with a full metal chassis akin to the iPhone 6.
Although critics as well as the customers have given high ratings to the large-size iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, users are still eagerly waiting for a smaller iPhone handset. In fact, the older iPhones like the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S continue to be popular among customers mainly because of their smaller size, which allows users to operate them with one hand.
As of now, Apple is yet to confirm the release dates of the 4-inch iPhone 6. However, the Cupertino-headquartered tech giant is heavily pegged to unveil the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus in September.
