Even as the hype over the launch of new smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S6, HTC One M9, and others at the recently concluded Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona, Spain, continues, some retailers have been offering discounts on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

According to Christian Today, Best Buy in the U.K. is offering a gift to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus buyers under the AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Sprint plans. For instance, buyers opting for Sprint Leasing Plan or Sprint Easy Pay will be receiving a gift card worth $200, while those going for AT&T Next or Verizon Edge Plans will receive a gift card worth $150. This offer is open for all color and storage variants of Apple's latest flagship smartphones.

The new promotion by the retailer allows the buyers to take home the iPhone 6 handsets without any down payment. The entire cost of the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus is distributed equally in addition to the monthly subscription fees. While the retailer has not specified till when it offer will remain valid, purchases can use the gift card to buy other items in the store.

In the meantime, tech enthusiasts are speculating that the sudden discounts to the iPhones that are merely six months old suggest that Apple may be preparing to launch their successor. According to latest rumors, the Cupertino-based tech giant may unveil the purported iPhone 6s at Apple's March 9 Spring Forward event together with the Apple Watch. Invitations for the event have already been sent to the members of the press.

While Apple is yet to confirm the rumors regarding the unveiling of the purported iPhone 6s at the Spring Forward event, it has not prevented tech enthusiasts from speculating on specs of the reported smartphone. According to rumors the purported iPhone 6s will come with a 4-inch screen display, an A9 processor, a bigger 4 GB of RAM, iOS 9 with latest features that will support the Apple Watch, Car Play an enhanced TouchID fingerprint sensor, HealthKit as well as Apple Pay.
