iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus Model Update: Apple to Launch Limited Supply Gold-Plated Smartphones

Even as speculations about a purported iPhone 7 or iPhone 6s are making the rounds on the Internet, Apple is preparing to present its current flagship smartphones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, in a more attractive form.

According to reports, NavJack, a China-based tech firm, is currently working to alter the iPhone 6 and its larger variant and give the devices a more urbane look.

According to Christian Today, NavJack is manufacturing a limited number of extravagant iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus handsets that will come in 24K gold plated casings. Meanwhile, GSM Arena says that the alteration has been done more at the rear of the devices, and the manufacturer has encrusted a covering akin to that of carbon fiber for "added sense of exclusivity." In order to go with the refined appearance of the devices, NavJack has added an additional coat of Corning Glass 3 with a view to make them further scratch-resistant.

The chic and premium iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus handsets will come in quality boxes - an altogether different packaging which has no resemblance whatsoever to Apple's usual wrapping. It is worth noting here that while the external packaging of the devices has been altered to make them look gorgeous, their specs and features remain unchanged.

In fact, NavJack has not done any changes inside the hood - even the size of the handsets has remained unchanged. The gaudy iPhone 6 will still have a 4.7-inch screen display, while that of the larger variant will remain at 5.5 inches.

When Apple launched these handsets in September 2014, they came in the company's signature aluminum shell in three stylish color variants - white, silver and black. Since their launch, both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have been a resounding success and now Apple is trying to make these handsets classier.

Nevertheless, the company has yet to confirm the prices of the gold plated smartphones. However, it is sure that the prices of these limited supply handsets will make a hole in the purchaser's pocket.
