iPad Pro 2 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Tablet Coming In March 2017, Features A10X Processor?

The iPad Pro 2 release date is going to be in March 2017-if the latest rumors are to be believed. Another rumor has also come out and it involves the tablet reportedly getting the A10X processor.

Despite all the previous rumors about the iPad Pro 2 being released in September this year, alongside the iPhone 7 launch, Apple stuck to its guns. During the September event, the company did not even give any hint if there are new products in the Air or Pro brands in the pipeline.

However, the September launch had some basis, said PCAdvisor, considering that the original iPad Pro was launched in September 2015, and another 9.7-inch model was released in March 2016.

But the delay of the supposed iPad Pro 2 release date might not be the fault of Apple alone. Reportedly, the A9X chip used in the original iPad Pro is still based on the 16nm FinFET. Forcing such old tech into the new tablet might compromise performance and battery life.

This is likely why Apple still has to wait for the chip manufacturers to whittle the technology down to 10nm, and also wait for its own team to roll out the A10X.

According to iTechPost, the iPad Pro 2 might be powered by the A10X during its release date. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is currently running the A10. In terms of processing power, the A10X is allegedly 30% better compared to the A9X, which had a multiprocessor score of 4,990. In contrast, the A10X is believed to have a score of 6,558.
