iPad Air 3 Specs, Release Date Rumors: Air 2 Descendant Named As iPad Pro; Set To Launch This Month?

Apple execs remain mum about the scheduled release date for the highly anticipated 9.7-inch iPad Air 3, but the rumors continue to persist regarding the March 2016 launch.

Also, the speculations about the successor to the iPad Air 2 actually being named iPad Pro instead of iPad 3 are getting louder.

The report was first brought up by resident Apple expert Mark Gurman in an article fro 9to5 Mac.

Although smaller than its 13- and 15-inch predecessors, all the rumors about the iPad Air 3 suggested that it's no less powerful.

"The smaller iPad Pro will have nearly identical features and specifications as the bigger model, bringing along the A9X processor and RAM upgrades from the 12.9-inch model," wrote Gurman. "It will also include the 12.9-inch model's updated display technology to support the Apple Pencil."

He also lend credence to rumors that the release date for iPad Air 3 may likely be announced during the Mar. 15 press event of Apple, and commercial shipping will immediately begin three days later.

The iPad Air 3 reportedly features one of the best cameras around, comparable with the iPhone 6, and the rumors going around is that it will have a rear flash. Also, the gadget-just like the iPad Pro-will have four speakers and dual stereo speakers that will ensure clarity regardless of how the user holds it.

"No other iPad has an rear flash, but if Apple is bringing 9.7-inch tablet's camera up to the 6s specs, then it's not out of the realm of the possibility," said Mac World.
