iOS 10 Release Date, News: New Update Features Extra Capacity?
One of the main complaints about the Apple devices is the lack of storage but news reports that are coming in reveal that there's going to be extra capacity that will come with the iOS 10.
Last year, there's even a lawsuit filed against Apple on its iOS 8 after a "substantial number of Apple consumers that have been shortchanged, and we'll be pursuing the claims vigorously." In response, the company unveiled iOS 9 which it claimed already addresses the issue.
Just recently, Apple has announced the news about the iOS 10's ability to remove the built-in apps, which was welcomed by consumers.
But The Verge noted that the celebration may be premature as Apple software chief Craig Federighi clarified to The Talk Show that the announcement may have been misinterpreted by consumers. Apparently, the built-in apps could not be totally removed from the devices.
"It removes the home screen icon, user data, and some behind-the-scenes stuff that adds links to each app, but the core of the removed app remains on the phone," it said. For convenience's sake, it does make sense, because they only have to go the Apple Store and "Get" those apps back.
Federighi added that the built-in apps in iOS 10 devices will only amount to about 150MB so they don't negatively impact the iPhone's performance so much.
Meanwhile, a Reddit thread shared the news about more storage space for the iOS 10 as it said, "iOS 10 expands total capacity from 113 gb to 121 gb on 128 gb iPhones."
