'Into The Badlands' Season 2 Release News: AMC Renewed For Second Season; Describes It As ‘Expanded’

In line with AMC's hit television show, it has been revealed that the network has reportedly renewed the series for a second season, teasing that it was going to be "expanded."

On Mar. 8, AMC has reportedly announced the renewal of its martial arts drama series "Into the Badlands" for season 2, Variety reported. As per the publication, the show is set to come back for a ten-episode season 2, which is set to premiere on AMC next year.

According to the publication, "Into the Badlands" managed to emerge as the third highest-rated first season series in the United States cable television history, with an average number of viewers of 5.6 million on each episode.

In an interview with the publication, AMC, Sundance TV, and AMC Studios President Charlie Collier said that with its deep drive into authentic martial arts, the visually stunning "Into the Badlands" had proved to be unlike anything else on television.

Collier added that co-creators and showrunner Al Gough and Miles Millar, in addition to a skilled team of producers, cast, and crew, had brought the network an artfully made show. He added that they were enthusiastic to come back to the world of barons and blades and spend even a lot more time with such compelling and transforming characters across the expanded season 2.

In line with its 2017 release, AMC now holds a number of opportunities to air the series' first season again in "binge-friendly marathons" while trying to lure people to stream it, according to Cinema Blend.

"Into The Badlands" last left fans with season 1 episode 6, which is entitled "Hand of Five Poisons." It saw Sunny and M.K. Fight to get away from Quinn's hands once and for all. Also, the episode saw the Baron's foes conspire to take him down, in an attempt to change Badlands forever. "Hand of Five Poisons" aired on Dec. 20, 2015.
