Flame is a popular Grammy and Dove nominated Christian rap artist from St. Louis, Missouri. He has released six studio albums and is on the heels of releasing his new album Royal Flush on Oct. 1st. 

We'd like to thank Flame for taking the time to do this interview with BreatheCast. 

BreatheCast: How does it feel to finally be releasing your new album Royal Flush on Oct 1st?

Flame: "I'm elated! I feel this project is some of my best work."

BreatheCast: How would you describe your sound for people that haven't heard of you guys and what artists have influenced your sound?

Flame: "It's definitely a hip-hop rap album. It has heavy 808's, kick drums and hard-hitting snares. I'm from St. Louis so there is a Midwest influence. You get a heavy dose of theology- practical application of the Bible combined with fun and creative song concepts. I've been influenced the most in my career by the group Cross Movement."

BreatheCast: Tell us the story behind your single, "All In"?

Flame: "With the title Royal Flush, a few songs on the album are metaphors from the game of poker, and "All In" is one of them. This song encourages complete resolve and commitment to the Gospel and evangelism."

BreatheCast: What advice would you give to up and coming Christian rappers?

Flame: "Love Jesus genuinely. Commit to your local church. Be faithful with your current platform no matter how big or small it is. Practice your craft and learn the music business." 

BreatheCast: What is the biggest mistake you have ever made on stage while performing?

Flame: "When I first started, I would say forgetting the lyrics!" 

BreatheCast: If you could collaborate with one Secular Artist and one Christian Artist, who would you choose?

Flame: "I don't have any secular collaboration ambitions, but I would love to write a song with Casting Crowns."

BreatheCast: Do you have a current scripture or quote that has been speaking to you?

Flame: "2 Peter 1:3- it's the theme of Royal Flush."

BreatheCast: If you could play professionally for any sports team for one day, who would you pick?

Flame: "St. Louis Cardinals, Rams, or Blues!"

BreatheCast: What are your touring plans for this Fall 2013?

Flame: "I'm pretty all over the place! I'm doing some shows with Salvador, 7venth Time Down & Kerrie Roberts, along with a bunch of solo dates. I will also be on the Christmas tour with Family Force 5."
