International Space Station News: SpaceX Ship Finally Delivers Resupply to ISS
After long delays for a scheduled resupply, SpaceX's resupply ship Dragon has finally reached the ISS and delivered the much needed supplies and Christmas gifts.
"We're excited to have it on board," said U.S. astronaut Wilmore said. "We'll be digging in soon."
What are the things that the astronauts are looking forward to? Mustard being among the top of Astronaut Wilmore's list, stating the condiment cabinet has been empty for some time.
The space station's six astronauts were getting low on supplies for the past month due to the previous supply ship, owned by another company, was destroyed as it exploded during launch in October. NASA was forced to quickly salvage equipment from the explosion and transport it aboard the Dragon.
There are currently three Russian crew members, two Americans and one Italian on board the ISS.
The Dragon was delayed by a month due to a rocket snag issue, which was originally scheduled to arrive well before Christmas.
Currently only two companies run supply missions up to the ISS one being SpaceX and the other being Orbital Science Corp. Due to the recent accident with Orbital Science's rocket, all further flight missions have been postponed.
In response SpaceX has picked up the slack and will be taking over delivery for both companies. SpaceX still continues their research and will be conducting another test flight next month.
