'Indiana Jones 5' Cast News, Release Date: ‘Star Wars’ Actor Harrison Ford Reprises Role; Film Hits Theaters 2019
In line with the return of "Indiana Jones" to the big screen in 2019, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford reportedly team up for "Indiana Jones 5."
According to Deadline, Disney announced that "Star Wars" actor Harrison Ford, who played the the role of Dr. Henry Walton "Indiana" Jones Jr. in previous "Indiana Jones" films, is set to reprise the role in "Indiana Jones 5."
It was also revealed that "Jurassic Park" director Spielberg is set to return to direct the film. As per the publication, the director was at the helm of the previous four films and the fifth film installment is yet to be titled. Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall are set to produce the upcoming film.
In February 2015, Spielberg was rumored to head the production for "Indiana Jones 5," in addition to his interest on "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Jurassic World" star Chris Pratt to join the film. The actor was rumored to play the role of the iconic film character, but such rumors were debunked. At this point, some rumors say that Pratt is set to be part of the film.
In a statement (via Cinema Blend), Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn said that "Indiana Jones" was one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history and they could not wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. Horn added that it was rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor, and role, and they could not be more thrilled to embark on such adventure with Ford and Spielberg.
As the film is in its early phase of development, exact details on the film's plot, characters, and cast are yet to be revealed.
Spielberg's "Indiana Jones 5" is set to premiere in theaters in the United States on July 19, 2019.
