'Indiana Jones 5' Casting News: Success of ‘Jurassic Park’ May Prompt Universal to Cast Chris Pratt as Indiana Jones
Following the tremendous success of 'Jurassic World,' Chris Pratt has refuted all rumors pertaining to being a cast member of a 'Ghostbusters' reboot together with Channing Tatum. However, Enstarz reported that the actor has kept mum regarding rumors related to his portrayal of Indiana Jones. Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly reports that Pratt may be the front-runner for the role.
Christian Today reports that in an interview with Vanity Fair in May, LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that 'Indiana Jones 5' will be happening soon. He, however, said that as of now, neither has the script been developed, not any actor has been cast to play the lead character. Kennedy also did not confirm if the upcoming movie would be a sequel to the film series starring Harrison Ford or it would be a reboot with a new actor.
An earlier report in Entertainment Weekly said that the huge success of 'Jurassic World,' which stars Pratt, may inspire Universal Pictures as well as LucasFilm to think about casting the actor as Indiana Jones.
Incidentally, the original 'Jurassic Park' as well as 'Indiana Jones' films were produced and directed by Steven Spielberg. Currently, LucasFilm that owns the 'Indiana Jones' franchise is owned by Disney. The Guardian reported that even Spielberg is teaming up with Disney for the first time for his upcoming film 'The BFG.'
Considering all these aspects it would not be a too unbelievable to think that Spielberg, Kennedy, and Disney will collaborate to make 'Indiana Jones 5' and also cast Pratt for the role. Already, the marketability of the actor has been proven with the success of the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and 'Jurassic World.'
However, at this moment neither Pratt nor LucasFilm has confirmed or denied the prospects of the actor accepting the role.
