'Independence Day: Resurgence' Trailer Recap, Cast, Latest News [VIDEO]

20th Century Fox just released the official trailer of "Independence Day: Resurgence" and it looks like the aliens return with a bigger ship, packed with a bigger amount of trouble for human beings.

Roland Emmerich will once again take the director's seat as the story continues. It has been around 20 years since the last movie.

Bill Paulman, Jeff Goldbum, Judd Hirsch, Vevicia Fox, Brent Spiner and John Storey were the only ones reprising their roles. Will Smith didn't opt to come back; citing that he got tired at doing sequels.

"In the very beginning, I wanted to work with him and he was excited to be in it but then after a while he was tired of sequels, and he did another science fiction film, which was his father-son story, so he opted out," Emmerich explained via Screen Crush.

Liam Hemsworth takes the spot light as he plays a main character named Jake Morrison.

In the trailer, the first thing that we see is a United Nations convoy on a journey to check out something in the desert. David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) steps up to check the site and sees an alien aircraft landed on the plains. President Whitmore (Bill Paulman) is bothered by his nightmare turning into reality.

As earth's highly advanced equipment is being prepared for battle, they have no idea of the technology and evolution of the enemy that they will be up against. At the end of the trailer, David is overwhelmed by the size of the alien spacecraft that's about to enter the earth's atmosphere.

"Independence Day: Resurgence" opens in cinemas June 24, 2016.
