‘Ice Age 5’ New Movie News: Installment Officially Titled ‘Ice Age: Collision Course’, Releases July 22, 2016
The upcoming movie in the 'Ice Age' series has been officially titled 'Ice Age: Collision Course.' The release date of movie, which was previously dubbed as 'Ice Age 5' has been changed from July 15 to July 22, 2016.
Quoting a report in Collider, IB Times reports that 20th Century Fox has pushed back the release date of 'Ice Age 5' with a view to avoid a clash with the much-anticipated Paul Feig remake of 'Ghostbusters,' which is scheduled to release on July 15, 2016.
Screen Rant reports that fans of the 'Ice Age' movie series will see the return of their favorite characters like Manfred (Manny), Sid, Diego and Ellie in 'Ice Age: Collision Course.'
While Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, Dennis Leary and John Leguizamo will voice the characters, Mike Thurmeier and Galen T. Chu are directing the film. Recently, Fox revealed the promotional poster of 'Ice Age: Collision Course' at Licensing Expo 2015. However, the plot of the movie is still under wraps.
According to the report, all the previous films in the series - 'Ice Age,' 'Ice Age: The Meltdown,' 'Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs,' and 'Ice Age: Continental Drift,' have proved to be successful at the box office.
Discussing the success of the 'Ice Age' films, Steve Martino, who directed the fourth movie of the series, told Empire, "There are a couple of things. I think the characters form an unusual family - and at its heart, in this story in particular, we really hold up the theme of what it means to be a family. You know, looking out for each other, standing up for one another."
According to Thurmeier, the franchise has a global appeal. He said, "They seem global in a way, and maybe that's appealing to the kids."
The third film of the series, 'Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs' released in 2009 and its storyline revolved around the tropical lost world that was inhabited by dinosaurs, while 'Ice Age: Continental Drift,' released in 2012, showed the characters getting trapped on a floating iceberg following the breakup of a continent. The two movies earned $886.7 million and $887.2 million worldwide, respectively.
