Chinese tech manufacturer Huawei has confirmed that it will be hosting an event in London in April, when the company is expected to launch its latest premium smartphone - possibly the Huawei P8. In fact, the smartphone manufacturer has already dispatched invites for the April 15 event and placed a teaser image that suggests that it is ready to launch the successor of Huawei Ascend P7.
IB Times reports that when Huawei launches the highly-anticipated successor of Huawei Ascend P7 next month in London, the company will be dropping the "Ascend" branding. It further states that the Huawei P8, which has been in news since early this year, will come with a major upgrade in specs and features. The new Huawei smartphone is sure to give a touch competition to the existing handsets in its range on the market, the report adds.
Meanwhile, GSMArena reports via GSM Info that the scheduled event will commence at 3 pm in London. Incidentally, the invites sent out by the company does not offer any direct details, but asks its fans to "Save the Date".
If the rumors turn out to be true, the Huawei P8 will sport a 5.2-inch Full HD 1080 x 1920 pixel screen rendering a pixel density of 424ppi. In terms of hardware, the upcoming smartphone will run on Huawei's own 64-bit octa-core Kirin 930 CPU. The other major specs of the smartphone include 3GB RAM, 32GB in-built storage in addition to a 2,600mAh battery.
Fans can expect some interesting features in the Huawei P8. According to GSMArena, the handset will assimilate the highest security standard in phones, a fingerprint scanner, together with a 13-megapixel rear facing camera having Optical Image Stabilization. In addition, the camera is expected to be one of the USP for the Huawei P8, as it will comprise a unique Duo camera setup, enabling users to change focus and aperture of a captured image. Moreover, it is expected that P8 will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
While Huawei has yet to announce the pricing details and availability of the P8, Phone Arena suggests based on its China pricing the handset is likely to cost around $480.
