HTC A9s Release News & Updates: Device Rolls Out, But Doesn't Resonate With Users

While the HTC A9s certainly looks beautiful, the news after its commercial release could not have been good for the company.

Tech Radar said that HTC seems to be taking a page out of Apple's playbook by adding a suffix to the brand name, tweaking the specs, and then marketing it as the high-end version. However, in this case, instead of upgrades, the company actually downgraded the phone.

For example, instead of the 1080p AMOLED display, the HTC A9s now sports a 720p LCD screen. It's camera-although similar to the 13MP of its predecessor-doesn't perform as well in low-light conditions.

There's some good news, though, such as longer usage after HTC slapped a 2300mAh battery on the A9s. It could potentially outlive its predecessor in terms of usage rate with the help of the HTC Boost+.

In terms of the design, HTC is not making any changes despite the flak it got with the A9, which looks suspiciously like an iPhone. Instead of shying away from the comparisons, the manufacturer even copied the snapper module of the iPhone 6.

In terms of the specs, the HTC A9s is powered by MediaTek's octa-core Helio P10. In some areas, they may get the 16GB and the 2GB RAM version, while others will get the 32GB and 3GB of RAM.

There's no news about the price for the HTC A9s yet, although the company did say that the cost would be competitive among phones in the mid-tier market. There's also no release date as of now, but it's expected to roll out in the coming weeks.
