HTC is expected to release the new HTC One Mini to keep up with competitor Samsung as they have the released the new Galaxy S4 Mini. 

The interesting thing about the word "mini" is it can be deceiving. Both Mini devices for Samsung and HTC will still have a larger screen (4.3 inches) than the full sized iPhone 5 (4 inch) screen. So the phones will not look "mini" by any means, if anything they are easier to hold in your hand then a 5.5 inch screen that some thing is too big and harder to use, especially with one hand. 

The main thing is that the Mini versions of the phones will have downgrade in specs. Rather than a quad-core, they will be dual-core or rather than full HD, they will be 720p, etc. 

The HTC One Mini is has no confirmed release date as of now. Some thought that the phone would release at the same time as the Galaxy S4 Mini, but with the S4 Mini being released, that has proven not to be true. August now is the next expected release date. 

The HTC One Mini screen is expected to have a 4.3 inch screen with 720p resolution. It will also have a 1.4GHz dual-core processor which is slighter lower than the 1.7GHz chip that is in the Galaxy S4 Mini phone. 

The operating system for the HTC One Mini is looking to be using the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, some speculate that 4.2.2 could be used in the phone as well. 

The HTC One Mini is expected to be able to record full HD video, but we will see if that is true. The storage is expected to have options up to 16GB of internal storage. 

An advantage of the HTC One Mini is that the look could be almost identical to its big brother, the HTC One, just slightly smaller. The HTC One Mini will reportedly still use the same metallic chassis as the HTC One. 

No official word on what the price of the new HTC One Mini would be. The Galaxy S4 Mini, which has just hit sale in the U.K. is going for just under $600 with no contract according to CMV Live.

There has been several rumors that Apple will break its formula model and release a iPhone Mini along with the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6. Some think this is a natural progression with competitors like Samsung and HTC making Mini versions, but some think that Apple would not go this route. We will have to wait and see.
