HTC One M9 Specs, Release Date Rumors: Tech Titan Plans to Launch Device on April 10th?
During HTC's Uh-Oh webcast announcement, president of the US division Jason Mackenzie reported that the highly anticipated HTC One M9 will release on April 10th along with the new Uh-Oh protection plan.
Mackenzie went on to say that carriers could determine different dates other than the April one; it's entirely up to them. It also depends on when each service receives their shipments of the handsets.
The HTC One M9 comes with a 5-inch 1080p display with body dimensions of 144.6 x 69.7 x 9.61 mm at 4K support. The battery has been upgraded to 2800mAh. It will have a rear and front camera with only the front one supporting a 4MP UltraPixel camera. Other specs include 3GB of Farm, an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor, with four cores running at 2.0GHz and four at 1.5GHz.
During the webcast, Mackenzie answered many questions viewers had over Twitter. He said that the new Uh Oh protection plan is for those who tend to be accident prone. The plan guarantees replacement if the phone has been damaged by water or by dropping within the 12 months of a consumer's contract.
Also announced was that the One M9 will not be a Google Play Edition. Mackenzie said that consumers would just have to wait for what the company has in store for this new phone. The Lollipop update will be available with the One M9 out-of-box, with the M8 and M7 still in the process of certification.
The company's president also addressed the overheating issues circulating. Various sources report that test groups from Taiwan experience the One M9 overheating up to 132 degrees Fahrenheit. This could be because of the Snapdragon 810 processor. Mackenzie said the company is working on it and will get it right before the April release date.
