HTC One M9 Release Date & Specs News: Flagship Device Available Online - Friday at Midnight
Consumers looking to buy the HTC One M9 will not have to wait any longer, because the Taiwanese tech giant's latest flagship smartphone goes on sale Friday at midnight.
On Thursday, HTC Corporation announced that the upcoming device will only be available online, at HTC.com, for the first two weeks after it is on the market.
IB Times says that the premium smartphone will sell for $649 unlocked and will come with HTC's "Uh Oh Protection," a one time free phone replacement within the first 12 months in case of any crack or water damage. The offer also covers replacements for any user who opts to switch mobile networks and needs a compatible phone. If the consumer does not use the "Uh Oh Protection" warranty, HTC will give him/her $100 credit while buying a HTC One in future.
The HTC One M9 will be made available in stores for a number of major U.S. network carriers including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon, as well as for retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Best Buy Mobile, Costco Wholesale and Target starting from April 10. Each carrier and retailer will announce their individual launch information, including precise specifications, colors, availability and pricing later.
Incidentally, Samsung will also launch its flagship handsets Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge on April 10 and, hence, by selecting this launch date, HTC has established competition with the South Korean smartphone manufacturer. Earlier, on March 2, just before the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, Spain, HTC and Samsung announced their new flagship devices. While majority of the carriers and retailers that will carry the device have yet to announce launch information for their models of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge; Verizon has confirmed that it will start accepting preorders for the devices April 1.
As for its features, the HTC One M9 will come with a 5-inch Full HD (1920x1080 resolution) display, will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip, have 3GB of RAM memory and 32GB of internal storage, in addition to a 2840 mAh battery. According to HTC, the battery of the device offers 21.7 hours of talk time and 402 hours of standby time on a 3G network.
