HTC One M9 Release Date News: March 1 Launch Event Confirmed for New 'Hima' Smartphone
After months of speculation on the next HTC flagship smartphone's release date, PC Advisor has confirmed that HTC has sent out invites to a March 1 launch event for the HTC One M9.
There still aren't a lot of confirmed details about the follow up to the powerful and stylish combo that is the HTC One M8, and @upleaks adds a new wrinkle to the HTC smartphone guessing game by reporting that HTC will no longer be using its M codenames.
@upleaks said that instead of being the M9, the upcoming HTC flagship smartphone will be known as "Hima." It is also not yet confirmed whether this means the new phone will be called HTC One Hima, or HTC Hima.
The usually reliable @upleaks circulated rumors that the HTC Hima will be packing a 5-inch 1080p Super LCD3 display with a Snapdragon 810 chip. As cited by PC Advisor, the chip is said to come with an octa-core processor with 4 Cortex-A57 cores at 2.0 GHz and 4 Cortex-A53 cores at 1.5GHz, Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB of RAM. @upleaks also says to expect 16-, 32-, and 64GB storage options.
PC Advisor also claims to have been told that all that power will be housed in an extremely slim 7mm thin case. Other rumors suggest a 13Mp front, along with a 20.7Mp rear camera for the Hima, which is said to also be capable of 4K (UHD) video recording.
The significant question of battery life is answered in the same report to offer 2840mAh capacity, while running Android 5.0 Lollipop along with the HTC Sense 7.0.
HTC, similar to its consistency in releasing its flagship models in the spring, has also been consistent with its pricing for its top end HTC One smartphones. PC Advisor says to expect the HTC Hima to fetch initially between $755 and $900, while expecting to find better deals over time and as you begin to look around.
