HTC One M8 vs iPhone 5S: Comparing Prices, Specs and Features
While everyone accepts that iPhones are astutely crafted devices that come in wonderful designs, the HTC One M8 is not an inferior smartphone in any manner. In fact, the iPhone 5S is somewhat expensive - costing about $690 for the 16GB variant and $800 for the 32GB version, while the 32GB version of HTC One M8 can be acquired for around $690.
Hardware
While the iPhone 5S operates on the iOS 7 and the A7 64 bit processor, the HTC One M8 operates on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Compared to iPhone 5S' 1GB RAM, the HTC One M8 has a 2GB RAM. The internal storage of iPhone S5 is available in three versions - 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. On the other hand, the HTC One M8 only comes in one version, 16GB with an expandable micro SD card facility.
Design
The iPhone 5S is slimmer and sleeker and presents one of the finest looks and feels, making it comfortable to hold. In comparison, the HTC smartphone is somewhat larger and may pose difficulty when operating with one hand. Moreover, Apple has replaced the home button with the fingertouch sensor and Touch ID.
Screen and Display
The iPhone 5S weighs 112g, has a 4-inch LCD display screen and 1136 x 640 pixels resolution plus 326 ppi. While, HTC One M8 weights 160g, and has a 5-inch LCD screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution plus 441 ppi. Compared to the HTC One M8 (146.4x70.6x9.4 mm), the iPhone 5S (123.8x58.6x7.6 mm) is smaller. However, the screen of the HTC One M8 is vibrant and sharper with excellent viewing angles and an attractive display.
Camera
The HTC One M8 boasts duo cameras along with a 4.1 mega-pixel one with a dedicated sensor for depth, presenting refocusing features. While you may tweak pictures, the snaps have lower resolutions owing to the ultra pixel feature. Its 5 mega-pixel front is superior to 1.8 mega-pixel camera of iPhone 5S for Facetime. In contrast, the 8 mega-pixel rear camera of the iPhone has dual LED flash, and offers natural tones, in addition to better performance even in poor light conditions.
Operating System
The iPhone 5S is slick, intuitive and very fast as it runs on iOS 7.2. The Touch ID makes it easier to unlock the phone, apps and music. Moreover, users can receive the latest apps and updates immediately when they reach the App Store. Even the HTC One M8 boasts an excellent Sense 6 user interface, running on Android 4.4 KitKat. It also offers a new tab for unlocking feature and a number of gesture controls to access the Home screen quickly.
