HTC One E9 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Tech Firm to Launch Mid-Range Variant of One M9?

If the rumor mill is to be believed, the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC Corporation is currently working on a new flagship device for its One E product lineup. Originally dubbed as HTC A55 on the Internet, the high-end handset was actually found to be the HTC One E9.

Christian Today reports that the latest device from HTC will be a variant of its soon to be launched One M9 handset. The primary difference between the two devices is the screen. There are rumors that the HTC One M9 will sport a 5.0-inch display, making the One E9 bigger with a relatively large 5.5-inch Quad HD display.

As far as the internal specs of HTC One E9 are concerned, the device will be powered by a MediaTek MT6795 chipset together with an octa-core A53 Cortex processor clocked at 2.0 GHz. Compared to the HTC One M9, the processor of the new device seems to be somewhat inferior, but the memory of both the devices will have the same capacity - a robust 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage.

Similar to the HTC One M9, the HTC One E9 will also come with a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera, while its front-facing camera will be 4-megapixel UltraPixel - ideal for taking selfies. Tech website GSM Arena reports that the HTC One E9 will also be available in another model having a 13-megapixel front snapper. However, this model will only be available in select markets.

In addition, the HTC One E9 is also expected to sport the attractive fusion of the HTC Sense 7 UI and Android 5.0 Lollipop. It will also have dual-SIM support. Recently, some images of the purported smartphone were leaked online. They suggested that the HTC One E9 will be a budget smartphone with impressive features.

If the remarks of Jason Mackenzie, HTC's America CEO, at the MWC 2015 are any indication, the purported One E9 handset will arrive soon. Mackenzie has said, "When I look at the flagship [HTC One M9], I see we're building the most premium device, but I can't stop there," adding, "We have a huge announcement in middle to late March around extreme differentiation between Samsung and the iPhone. It solves key pain points."
