HTC One Android 5.0 Lollipop Update: Sprint HTC One (M8) Starts Rollout
It is the news that everyone has been waiting for: another software update for smartphone carriers. Sprint's version of the original HTC One from 2013 has, as of February 5, 2015, started receiving the update of Android 5.0 Lollipop.
According to GSM Arena, Sprint has come out to officially say that the update has started but as with all over-the-air releases, it may take a few (or more depending) days until it reaches all the devices out there. HTC owners have been long awaiting this day and it seems like it couldn't come soon enough.
Though you are tempted to yell and scream at your phone or call Sprint and harass their workers about when you will get the update for Android 5.0 Lollipop, rest assured your friends at Sprint have you covered and it's on its way.
Verizon was among the first to unroll an Android Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S5 so it won't be long until carriers and phone versions all have the new update.
This news does come as a bit of a surprise however as this update was not supposed to take place so soon.
Initially the rollout time was set for next week but in a surprising turn of events and for whatever reason, Sprint decided that they would push things forward and surprise us all with an early release. This is definitely good news for owners of the One.
How do you get Android 5.0 Lollipop you say? Your phone will let you know when it is ready to download and install the update via notification.
Some people have their phone set to not automatically accept updates, if this is the case then you are going to want to manually check. To manually check it you have received the update go to Settings > System updates > HTC software update, and then tap on Check now.
Once this update has been applied, you'll be running build 4.20.651.10. Aside from moving the base to Android 5.0 Lollipop, this new software also removes the Lumen Toolbar.
