Bishop Rance Allen of the legendary gospel ensemble The Rance Allen Group headed to Houston on Tuesday, February 26, for a special screening of the group's documentary, Music Majors: The Rance Allen Group.

The screening was held at the Museum of Fine Arts and marked the first time that the film was viewed publicly. Hosted by Congresswomen Sheila Jackson Lee, the event was well received and attended by many gospel industry notables, including Yolanda Adams, Kurt Carr, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Brian Courtney Wilson and more.

"The legendary Rance Allen Group has impacted the lives of many artists in the gospel music industry, with their music style and hearts of gold," Congresswoman Lee said at the screening. "The documentary, Music Majors: The Rance Allen Group is so very important. Rance Allen, you are just fantastic, and your history and music is one that all of us should hear and see."

Following the screening, Allen was honored and presented with the Certificate of Congressional Recognition by the office of Congresswoman Lee, and he was also surprised with a traditional Texas cowboy hat from Pastor Remus Wright of the Fountain of Praise church. Guests were then treated to an informative panel discussion including songwriter V. Michael McKay, Charles Hudson from KTSU-FM, Carl Davis of the Gospel Music Heritage Foundation and Tyscot Records A&R Director Sidney L. Scott as guests, along with Allen and Adams.
