'House Of Cards' Season 5 Release Date, News: Fifth Season Expected To Premiere In Early 2017

Recent reports say that "House of Cards" season 5 will premiere in early 2017, which is highly likely considering that all the previous seasons also premiered around the same time of the past four years. If the next season will be released during the first quarter just like the previous seasons, then season 5 will likely air sometime in February or March next year.

"House of Cards" season 5 will return without its original showrunner, Beau Willimon. According to reports, Willimon said it was time for him to move on to new endeavors after being at the helm of the show for the past four seasons.

"I'm grateful to Netflix and MRC, my fellow executive producers, our two incandescent stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, our talented writers, as well as the incredible cast and crew with whom I've had the privilege to work," he said.

"But I'm supremely proud of what we've built together, wish the show much continued success, and leave it in the hands of a very capable team," he added.

Meanwhile, "House of Cards" season 5 will tackle Frank Underwood's fight for power and will highlight his wife Claire's terrible plans for him.
