Carrie Mathison is ready to take up missions again with the CIA in "Homeland" Season 6.

Carrie Mathison is all-braced up to make a comeback as she takes up new missions and fights terrorism in the next season of "Homeland."

Just recently, showrunner Alex Gansa revealed some important details about the 6th season of the drama-thriller series, which is going to be mostly inspired by real-life events.

In season 5, Mathison worked as a security chief for a private institution in Berlin. Her decision strongly went up against the will of her boss Saul Berenson, who was under the impression that Carrie was involved in the leakage of crucial information to foreigners. It turned out though, that she was there for a secret mission. In season 6, viewers will find out more about this secret mission as she returns to the United States.

Season 5 followed Carrie as she entered into a new relationship and sought to live a normal life, and how this dream fell apart when she decided to end the relationship due to conflicts in their professions. As she returns to her country of origin in season 6, Carrie will reunite with her old friends in the CIA and take up new missions again.

According to Alex Gansa, giving Carrie's character a break was meant to give her some time off as a CIA agent.

"We've taken her through so much 'sturm and drang' over the last few years that we thought it would be nice to give her a little domestic bliss," said Gansa.

"Homeland" season 6 is scheduled to premiere in October, 2016, on Showtime.
