'Homeland' Season 5 Spoilers, Premiere Date Rumors: Series Returns in the Fall of 2015?
When the political thriller television series 'Homeland' returns for Season 5 on Showtime next Fall, fans will see Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) leaving the CIA. In fact, series showrunner Alex Gansa revealed the shocker at a recent press meet at the PaleyFest saying, "Carrie will no longer be an intelligent officer."
According to Christian Post, Gansa further stated that the upcoming season of 'Homeland' will kick off after two-and-a-half years from where Season 4 of the series ended. In addition, the setting of the next season will be entirely different, as it will be filmed in Germany.
Meanwhile, Claire Danes also shared a few details regarding 'Homeland' Season 5 at a press conference organized recently at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. Danes revealed that Carrie will take up a new and completely different career. She also joked, saying, "She's making beer and sausage."
In fact, 'Homeland' fans are not surprised over the time jump element in the next season of the series, as the show creators have done this in the past too. In 'Homeland' Season 3, Carrie was shown barely pregnant with her child with the late Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), while in Season 4 came, she had already given birth, but still left her child in the U.S. to combat terrorists in the Middle East.
Although Carrie will be leaving CIA, it does not mean that she will be pursuing any political scandal. In addition, being the lead character of the show, it is expected that Carrie will be seen dealing with her relationship with her daughter in 'Homeland' Season 5.
According to Danes, "There are very, very few representations of motherhood that are at all controversial on television, and I know personally it's a very complex experience. I don't know if there is a greater taboo than an unloving mother."
Filming of 'Homeland' Season 5 will start in May, while the first episode expected to be aired this Fall.
