'Homeland' Season 5 Spoilers, Plot Rumors: Carrie’s Espionage Roots Haunt Her in Germany [VIDEO]

Apparently, the espionage roots of Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) will keep haunting her wherever she goes. The recently released trailer for 'Homeland' Season 5 shows Carrie denying currently having any relation with CIA following her resignation from the post at the end of Season 4.

According to Christian Today, the trailer of the upcoming season of the American political thriller television series opens showing Carrie in Berlin along with her daughter Frannie, two years hence from the events in Season 4. It appears that she is contented and pleased with her new life and is now engaged as a German philanthropist's chief of security.

Nevertheless, Carrie soon finds herself in danger. For a new project requires, she is now required to uncover her intelligence expertise to help the Germans acquire American information owing to a massive data infringement into U.S. surveillance.

In the promo, Carrie is seen saying, "Maybe I knew someday that the past would catch up with me."

The action-packed trailer, presenting explosive bombings and a series of abduction, also features Carrie's former colleague-turned-lover Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend), who also appears to be in the midst of all the chaos.

In the meantime, in a recent interview with Deadline, series show runner Alex Gansa made it clear how they are endeavoring to make the series plot appear as if it really happens in reality. Ganza reports that the writers of the show conferred withed with real CIA agents and got their motivation from actual intelligence collected from Washington with a view stay close to reality.

"We entertain a parade of intelligence officers - current and former - State Department people, White House staffers, and we get a real sense of what people are talking about in Washington," Gansa shared, adding, "Those meetings taking place over a week so heavily influence the show so that some people think, 'Oh my god, you guys are so prescient, things that appear on 'Homeland' the next week will appear in the newspaper.'"

'Homeland' Season 5 will premiere on Sunday, Oct. 4, on Showtime.
