'Homeland' Season 4 Finale Spoilers: Episode 12 Showcases Carrie's Return Home

With the Season 4 finale of 'Homeland' drawing near, fans are scouring to Internet to gather clues to find out what's in store on the upcoming episode. Episode 12, entitled "Long Time Coming," is set to air on Dec. 21, but the official synopsis has already been released.

The finale episode in Season 4 is especially anticipated because of the fact that Dar Adal, portrayed by F. Murray Abraham, has been working for the terrorists the whole time.

In fact, they find it difficult to believe that this retired black ops expert could even think of working with a notorious terrorist leader like Haissam Haqqani. However, it is still not clear how deeply Dar Adal is involved with the terrorist group.

Meanwhile, Christian Today reports that CIA officer Carrie Mathison (portrayed by Claire Danes) and her former boss Saul Brenson (portrayed by Mandy Patinkin) will be returning to the United States before the show steps off for its winter hiatus. Nevertheless, the incidents in far away Islamabad will continue to be on their minds.

The official synopsis of 'Homeland' Season 4 Episode 12 reads, "Back in the States, Carrie and Saul investigate what she saw in Islamabad." The synopsis, however, does not say anything regarding Carrie's friend Peter Quinn's (portrayed by Rupert Friend) return to America.

Some fans are of the view that after Carrie returns to the U.S, she will try her best to nab the terrorists so that they are punished for the death of Fara (portrayed by Nazanin Boniadi). Even though Carrie is already back home, her problems at workplace do not end, as she needs to deal with the death of her father Frank (portrayed by James Rebhorn).

Carrie learned about her father's death while she was away in Islamabad, when her sister Maggie (portrayed by Amy Hargreaves) told her that Frank suffered a massive stroke.

In the upcoming episode, fans will look forward to see how Carrie deals with the death of her dad and also if she will eventually be able to develop a relationship with her daughter Frannie, who lived with Maggie while she was in Islamabad.
