'Homeland' Season 4 Episode 9 Recap, Plot Spoilers: ‘There’s Something Else Going On’ Benson's Release
The latest episode of 'Homeland' revolved around the release of CIA chief Saul Benson and the hidden plans from the Taliban group. Season 4 Episode 9 entitled "There's Something Else Going On," aired on Nov. 23.
Last week, CIA Middle East Division Chief Saul Benson was captured by Haissam Haqani. CIA case officer Carrie Mathison, Ambassador Martha Boyd, and CIA Director Andrew Lockhart freed five Taliban soldiers under U.S Custody in exchange for Benson.
The drawn out battle became complicated as the Taliban implemented a young boy with a bomb vest as a weapon.
However, Haqqani did thank Benson for the release of his crew members. The CIA chief was seen eyeing a distressed little boy across the room and the little one offered Benson some tea.
Later on, the two characters are seated side by side in a van with the boy in a suicide bomb vest. The Taliban soldiers dragged Benson out of the van with the little boy beside him. The CIA chief refused to cooperate in the exchange even when the soldiers threatened to kill the child.
Mathison decided to plead to Benson and reminded him of the CIA's mission. The two walked to safety and the prisoners were exchanged. The little boy survived as well.
The CIA case officer succeeded in freeing her mentor, however, this was short lived since Haqqani had a devised plan. Before the episode ended, the case officer and her colleagues were inside the three SUVs as it exploded.
The incident was 2 blocks away from the embassy and Senator Andrew Lockhart witnessed it. He contacted the marines so that they could immediately attend to the area.
The episode ended with Haqqani and his soldiers entering the American Embassy through a secret tunnel. The tunnel's location was revealed by Ambassador Boyd's Husband Dennis to Pakistani ISI double agent Tasleem Quresh.
The next episode of 'Homeland' will air on Dec. 7, 2014.
