'Heroes Reborn' Cast News: Masi Oka to Reprise Role as Hiro Nakamura in New NBC Reboot
Since news surfaced about the return of the beloved NBC series "Heroes," many fans speculated who would actually be returning. It's already known that Jack Coleman, who played Noah Bennett in the original series, will come back, but over the weekend another fan favorite was announced for his return.
Masi Oka, who played Hiro Nakamura, will reprise his role for the sequel. However, unlike Coleman, Oka will only be returning as a guest in the story arc.
Back in February 2014, NBC announced a 13-episode sequel titled "Heroes Reborn." Many fans were ecstatic by the news and have been waiting for more about the cast since.
"I'm excited to return to my 'Heroes' roots," Oka said in an interview with Deadline, "Hiro Nakamura was such an inspirational role to play and I'm hoping the fans will enjoy seeing him back on TV."
Hiro was the reluctant hero from Japan who had the power to teleport and use space-time manipulation. He, along with others, went throughout the show discovering their powers and what it took to be a hero.
Oka was nominated both for a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his performance, making him one of the most popular characters on the show.
Tim Kring, the series creator and executive producer will return to work on "Heroes Reborn."
He said, "We are thrilled to have Masi back in the 'Heroes' family. The character of Hiro Nakamura was such a huge part of the first series' success, and a gigantic fan favorite. We felt the fans would really love seeing him back in action again."
"Heroes Reborn" will also star Zachary Levi, Ryan Guzman, Robbie Kay, Danika Yarosh, Judith Shekoni, Kiki Sukezane, Henry Zebrowski, and Gatlin Green.
According to NBC, the show is set to release in the Fall of this year.
