'Hellboy 3' News: Ron Perlman Says He Doesn't Want To Do A Third Movie
The third entry into the 'Hellboy' movie franchise has been rumored to pop up for a couple weeks now by actor Ron Perlman, however director Guillermo Del Toro has stated that this probably won't be the case.
Perlman has been seen rallying for a studio to pick up the project on social media, and while he seems adamant about its production, he has recently voiced his honest opinion on returning for a 'Hellboy 3.'
"Let me make the record clear," Perlman tells critics at the TCA's. "I don't want to do Hellboy 3. It's a pain in the ass to put that makeup on and take it off. But I feel we're obligated to finish the story. That's it. End of conversation."
"I got no problems with forcing the conversation, as you can tell," Perlman said. "We're in the business of moving mountains. Those of us who are used to working in mainstream film and television. Don't come to me with details and problems. Just tell me how we move the mountain..."
"Because del Toro says: Put the makeup on, you can shoot me in a wheelchair and I'll still be Hellboy. I guess the only cutoff point is when they actually close the box. If you don't see me get up and go, 'Hang on, I was kidding,' then I'm still ready."
Perlman's sudden interest back in the franchise may be on the count of the insurgence of popularity in comic book adaptations. 'Hellboy 2' was released in 2008, which was right before the cut-off of some of the most popular superhero films of this generation.
To get a studio behind a venture like this, fan support would have to increase dramatically, and if the actor himself isn't even that interested, 'Hellboy 3' seems fairly unlikely.
