‘Hearthstone’ New Patch News: A New Card Back and a Game Changing Nerf
'Hearthstone' Blizzard's popular online card game has been making waves since its official release on March 14, 2014. Since then changes to the game have been made with the addition of cards, adventures, and a game mode, but one of the biggest changes to date went live with the most recent 'Hearthstone' patch.
For those that may not know, many of the decks that are frequently played sync with a meta that has been established by players at the highest level of play. One of the decks that has dominated the scene since its beginnings has been squashed; today marks the day that "Grim Patron Warrior" is dead.
The "Grim Patron" deck has been one of the most controversial decks that has ever fill 'Hearthstone' deckslots. The list of gripes against its use is staggering and the call for a nerf by many has finally been heard by Blizzard.
While many gamers may disagree with the recent changes to a certain crucial card in the deck, some are happy that "Grim Patron Warrior" is no longer viable.
Warsong Commander, a three mana crystal card once read, "Whenever you summon a minion with 3 or less Attack, give it Charge," it now reads, "Your Charge minions have +1 Attack."
This means that the one turn kill or OTK strategy behind the deck is no longer possible as two of the main minions in the deck can no longer attack on the turn they are played without additional cards. Since Grim Patron no longer has charge when played after Warsong Commander it is much more difficult to duplicate and clear enemy boards.
Beyond that, since Frothing Berkserker no longer has Charge with Warsong Commander in play, an incredible buildup of Attack following Whirlwinds, Death's Bite Deathrattles, and Unstable Ghouls, leaves him vulnerable on the opponent's following turn.
On a side note, while the iconic Warrior deck is commonly titled "Grim Patron Warrior," the true gem in the deck was Frothing Berseker as he commonly delivered the one turn killing blow.
Setting that aside, a unanimously popular change to the game has also be made in the latest 'Hearthstone' patch, and that's the addition of a new card back.
According to the post, "Highmaul - [is] Acquired by reaching Rank 20 or higher in Ranked Play mode during the month of October."
