Harry Potter Spinoff Sequel 'Fantastic Beasts 2' Premiere News: Boycott Looms Vs Johnny Depp?

Fans are vowing to boycott the Harry Potter spinoff sequel "Fantastic Beasts 2" in protest of the addition of Johnny Depp into the cast.

Apparently, fans did not take too kindly to the casting of Johnny Depp, considering the accusations leveled against him by ex-wife Amber Heard, the report said. The "Rhum Diary" actress has accused the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor of hitting her, which led to the split.

They also demanded that JK Rowling put her foot down and use her influence into casting out Johnny Depp. The "Harry Potter" author has been at the forefront of the advocacy against bullying and misogyny.

In related news, the Harry Potter spinoff sequel "Fantastic Beasts 2" is reported to be shot on location in Paris, which only confirmed what director David Yates said earlier about the movie moving to another big capital city. The only hint he gave then was that it's not going to be in New York, but "somewhere else entirely."

There would be five movies under the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise. Multiple reports claimed that JK Rowling has already written the script for the sequel so that means shooting will commence sooner or later.

Johnny Depp will allegedly play Gellert Grindelwald, the former friend of Dumbledore who will eventually betray his trust. But there should be details in the weeks to come on what the actor will actually play.

The Harry Potter spinoff sequel "Fantastic Beasts 2" is reported to have a premiere date in 2018, although there's no news yet on the exact release.
