'Harry Potter' Series News, Rumors: J.K. Rowling Talks Possible Eighth Book?
J.K. Rowling, author of the globally renowned Harry Potter book series, has given eager fans some hope that there could be a book eight in the series.
In an interview with NBC's Today show on Friday, she was asked about the possibility of writing an eighth book for the Harry Potter series.
Rowling had previously said that the series would end with book seven, so many fans expected to hear a definite no. However, Rowling responded to the question by saying "I have always said, never say never."
She went on to say that she never says she definitely will not add more to the series, because there is no reason to say that.
The author says that the world of Harry Potter is hers, and the possibility exists that she may choose to return to it, especially as she is currently writing the script for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Unfortunately for fans, her comment seemed to be a joke, quickly following by saying that fans of the series should not expect any new additions to the adventures of Harry, Ron and Hermione any time soon.
She admitted that she does not think it is going to happen and then laughed with one of the show's hosts and the conductor of the interview, Matt Lauer, saying that it was likely that viewers would twist her words, to make it appear as though she had made an announcement renewing the series.
The writer's current project, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is a film trilogy that is based on a companion book for the Harry Potter books.
The first movie is planned to hit the big screen in November 2016.
