Harry Connick Jr. the Next 'American Idol' Judge? Currently in Negotiations for Season 13 After Dr. Luke Declined / Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez Confirmed.

After clearing out Nicki, Randy and Mariah, American Idol 2014 needs new judges. Could 45-year old crooner Harry Connick Jr. be the next fresh face for Season 13 of the used-to-be popular reality singing competition?

According E! News Connick Jr. is currently in negotiations with the show. Connick has been a guest mentor on the show many times before and even was a guest judge in Season 12. How much would it cost to have the smooth, laid back coolness the show needs to keep up with now-big brother The Voice?

However, if Connick does join Idol as a judge, don't expect the next Simon Cowell.

"What I've done thus far on the show has been really fun, so I've had a great time," Connick said. "I think you need to be completely honest, and I think you need to be diplomatic. I think there's no reason to be mean, but it is called being a judge. You have to judge. That's what you do."

Producer mastermind, Dr. Luke was previously linked with possible Idol rumors, but ultimately had to decline due to conflict of company interest. Harry is now the top candidate to join confirmed judges Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez.

What do you think American Idol fans? Do you think Harry Connick Jr. would make a good judge?
