James Harden News: NBA All-Star Officially Signs $200 Million Deal with Adidas

After weeks where word of Adidas' massive 13-year, $200 million offer to sneaker free agent James Harden circulated, the German sports apparel company officially announced their deal with the Houston Rockets superstar.

"One of the league's most prolific scorers and recognizable players begins he long-term deal with Adidas, which includes an exclusive signature collection, product design collaboration and marketing involvement beginning Oct. 1.," the official release read.

We're a brand of creators and James embodies that more than any athlete in the game. His addition to the Adidas basketball family is a game changer," Chris Grancio, Adidas global basketball general manager said. "This partnership gives him the opportunity to achieve his goals and express himself in a totally new way as a creator. He's already one of the most recognizable sports figures because of his game, his look, his hunger to win and his style off the court. His ceiling is far from reached, which tells you the future for him and our brand looks incredible."

Harden joins the Adidas basketball roster made of up fellow stars Derrick Rose, John Wall, Damiam Lillard and reigning Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins.

As noted by Ball Don't Lie, this is the first time since 2011 when neither the reigning MVP not the runner-up will endorse Nike.

"We have a lot of energy in basketball right now and James takes that momentum to a whole new level," Grancio added. "James isn't like anyone else. He approaches the game with a unique mentality and strives to go against convention. When he signed with the Rockets, he moved from being the sixth man to the lead, proving his willingness to establish himself as a resounding superstar."

After Adidas made their massive offer to Harden, Nike had the option to match it, but declined. Last year, Nike matched a similarly massive Under Armour to former MVP Kevin Durant.
