'Hannibal' Season 3 New Trailer & Release Date: Series Returns in Summer 2015
NBC has finally released a thrilling trailer for the return of the third season of their show "Hannibal," along with some somber news for its fans. Despite the original release date of Q1 of this year, the new season will premiere this summer.
"It's a show we love, it's critically acclaimed, we love it. And we also love summer. We have exciting plans for summer," The chairman of NBC, Bob Greenblatt stated.
"'Hannibal' stars Hugh Dancy as expert criminal profiler Will Graham, who has a unique ability to peer into the mind of serial killers. Mads Mikkelsen stars as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a psychiatrist who is helping with the cases and is also a serial killer himself," writes Comingsoon.
The trailer reveals the premise for the third installment of the Hannibal adaptation. As viewers will recall, last season ended in an eruption with the murder of some important characters, and Hannibal making a run for it with his psychiatrist.
From the trailer we can assume that Will Graham will be hunting the psychopath, possibly in another country. It would seem the show is also still playing off the theme that both Will and Hannibal need each other.
The showrunner, Bryan Fuller commented on how the show will incorporate elements from the Hannibal novels and various other adaptations this season in a way they haven't done before.
"We kind of mix it up in a way that, since we are telling a fugitive story now, after 'Red Dragon,' because in the novel, once Hannibal guts Graham, he's immediately apprehended," Fuller said. "In our timeline, he gets away so we are pulling that story up. Then telling a different story when we get to that storyline after 'Silence of the Lambs'."
Mads Mikkelsen's Hannibal is something unlike any other Hannibal iteration, so it's refreshing to see them incorporate different storylines.
