‘Halo 5’ PC Release Date News, Rumors: Will ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ Launch on Windows PC?
With 'Halo 5: Guardians' releasing in a few days on Xbox One, October 27, fans of the franchise are looking to find out whether or not the game will launch on Windows PC in the near future as well. As nothing has been confirmed just yet, there is some promise taken from a recent interview with 'Halo 5' Director Frank O'Connor.
It's important to note that nothing is set in stone just yet, and things are constantly changing in the world of gaming so fans should not get their hopes too high. However, taking a recent quote from O'Connor to GamesRadar during a live Twitch stream, some promise can be found.
The director said, "You know, Microsoft has made a huge commitment trying sort of... I think normalize the Windows experience across multiple platforms. You see the elements of Windows 10 are going to appear in Xbox and Cortana and stuff like that."
He started off by talking about how all the Microsoft based platforms are looking toward some sort of integration, so behind 'Halo 5' there's other features that could be made cross-platform.
He went on to say, "here is plenty of chance that Halo 5 could appear on the PC. Nothing to announce at this point... you know, we developed the game on an Intel platform. It wouldn't be the hardest thing in the world to move it to PC and take advantage of PC stuff. But nothing I announce today on this chat."
While he clearly stated that nothing is confirmed as of yet, other 'Halo' franchise games have been made playable on the Windows PC format. Since there is a precedent there, and if there is strong enough community demand, chances are high that Microsoft will skew their efforts to make this a reality.
There is one catch though, while these comments are the sentiments of Frank O'Connor, it's unknown whether Microsoft shares them as well. As it stands, fans of 'Halo 5: Guardians' will have to pick up the game in five days on their Xbox Ones long before they can buy it for their computers, if at all in the future.
