'Halo 3: ODST Remastered' News: New Version Launched for Franchise Gamers

The current generation of video game playing is characterized particularly by the high volume of rebooted or remastered versions of older games, which allow players to experience for the first time or revisit classic titles, with better graphics and occasionally, more content.

For example, Sony reintroduced The Last of Us to PlayStation 4 owners last year with great success, and is hoping to repeat that success with the remastered version of God of War 3, which will be rolling out this July.

Microsoft has also jumped on board the rebooting train as well. Although Halo: The Master Chief Collection began with a rocky start, Microsoft is hoping to redeem itself with the help of a remastered version of Halo 3: ODST, which is available to fans currently.

Bonnie Ross of 343 Industries, made a statement about the free release of the game, and apologizing for the mistakes of the company with Halo: The Master Chief Collection. "This has been a humbling experience and highlighted how we as a studio can -- and need -- to do better for Xbox fans around the world," said Ross. "We are so grateful to our fans who have stood by our side and we appreciate all of your patience as we worked through these issues."

Fans who purchased Halo: The Master Chief Collection for the Xbox One between November 11 and December 19 should be receiving the download links for Halo 3: ODST, on Xbox Live, very soon, if they have not already.

For the fans who did not qualify for their complimentary copy it can be purchased from the Xbox Store for $4.99.
