'Half Life 3' Release Date Rumors: Appearance of New Logo Triggers Speculations
While Valve Corporation is yet to make an announcement regarding the official release of the third installment of its first-person shooter video game 'Half Life 3,' recently a new logo of the game was seen in the Steam website, triggering new speculations regarding its release date.
According to Christian Today, the logo spotted in the website displays an update version of the patented 'Half Life' logo accompanied by a message that reads "Half Life 3 confirmed."
However, if the various reports related to the much-anticipated game are taken into consideration, it seems that Valve Corporation is still nowhere near the release of the game. According to Valve's Gabe Newell, the release of the upcoming game will largely depend on the production team. He added that the only reason for the game being revived is that people within the company wanted to do it.
In terms of the game's new logo, Kotaku speculated that it (which is strangely different from the official logo of the game) may possibly be a result of hacking. In fact, when the logo appeared, if the page was clicked, it redirected people to a Twitter Nigerian account. However, the site has been restored following the appearance of that logo.
Meanwhile, fans of the game who are expecting the game to appear at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo 3 (E3) may wish to lower their expectations somewhat, as Valve Corporation may not be very active at the video game trade show.
If this happens, it may possibly denote that if 'Half Life 3' does hit the market, it will be through the company's own distribution channel and perhaps small events. In any case, the company is yet to announce the specific dates for both.
While the original 'Half Life' game was released almost 20 years back, the last sighting of the first-person shooter game came in 2007. Even to this day, gamers are glued to 'Half Life,' while expecting a new one to come soon.
