'Half-Life 3' Release Date News: Valve Assigns One-Third Of Employees To Work On Game?
Good news to all "Half-Life" gamers out there. It is with high probability that the third installment to the franchise will be released some time in 2018.
The game took a bit of a step back in development due to a lot of factors. It was said that the developer, Valve, will be focusing on VR features and there were also rumors that Valve will prioritize "Left 4 Dead 3" first. According to The News Independent, Valve has started the development process by putting in a lot of their employees in the project.
According to the site, Alan Yates a hardware engineer at Valve said through a Reddit post that he was "super fortunate" to begin his story at Valve during the time that Michael Abrash had begun the AR/VR research team. He added that it was "much smaller team then than it is now."
"It has since grown to encompass about a third of the company, but the key individuals that solved most of the really hard technological problems and facilitated this generation of consumer headsets are still here working on the next generation," Yates said.
Now, one-third of the company is solely dedicated to developing "Half-Life 3." Which is good since it has been a while since the "Half-Life 2" was released.
In addition, according to Ecumenical News, by the time "Half-Life 3" gets released, the game will already be supported by the innovative Virtual Reality (VR) game feature. This might be something good to make up for the long wait by the fans.
